Vinny McCullen is the boyfriend of Marie Lewis who got into frequent arguments with her son Danny during lockdown. When Danny left home he stole £1000 from Vinny, and although Vinny and Marie moved to Birmingham, he still wants his money back.

After sending Marie to Manchester to convince Danny to give the money over, Vinny sends his goons Ryan and Reece to threaten Danny, but he pulls a knife on them and scares them off. Vinny himself turns up at the Waterloo Road High School end of term show, but when Danny sees him in the audience he runs off. Vinny pursues him and threatens to throw him down the school stairwell but Danny stabs him in the stomach and he falls to the floor. Valerie Chambers sees the aftermath of the incident and an ambulance is called. Vinny is seen alive but in critical condition being wheeled into the ambulance, while Danny is put in police custody for stabbing him. At the beginning of Series 12 Vinny recovers and leaves hospital to testify against Danny in his possession trial.

Later in Series 12, Nicky Walters borrows £2000 from Vinny and he later begins threatening her to repay it. Nicky ends up stealing computers from the school to give to Vinny as payment, and Danny catches her, and helps by giving the computers to Vinny himself. After this, Vinny is not seen again.
