Susan Cookson (born 20 April 1965) is an English actress who portrayed Maria Lucas in Series 6 of Waterloo Road.

Best known for her roles as Tanya in Early Doors, Janice Piper in Clocking Off, Maggie Coldwell in Casualty and Wendy Posner in Emmerdale, Cookson's other credits include Coronation Street, Fat Friends, Land Girls, Last Tango in Halifax, Queer as Folk and Clocking Off.
Personal life[]
In 1993, Cookson married actor Malcolm Scates, who appeared in Waterloo Road as Ralph Mellor in Series 4. They have two children together.
Scates died on 6 September 2016 from a brain tumour.
