Journey's End is the twenty-eighth episode of Series 8.
Synopsis[]
LEA Director of Education Robert Bain is impressed when Michael gives him a tour of the school, but, as it is not in financial difficulties, refuses council funding. Michael tries to remind Lorraine how the school was successful in giving opportunity to bright pupils, herself included, whose parents could not afford fees, but she is adamant in sticking to her plan, alienating staff, including Nikki, who resigns as head. Eventually, Nikki persuades Lorraine to accept the LEA takeover, by which time Michael decides to still leave the school anyway, and a stunned Christine is appointed acting head. Lula attempts to attack Lorraine, after being refused a place on the tour of Nox, leading to Esther admitting that she used Lula as part of her own campaigning against the pharmaceutical company, before resigning as well. Meanwhile, Carol Barry tries in vain to persuade Dynasty to move out of Kevin's flat and return to live with her.
