Sixth episode of Series 11.
Synopsis[]
The basketball team are busy training under Lindon's watchful eye for an important friendly demonstration match attended by Manchester basketball talent scout Jamie Bedford. Lindon is eager to get some of the boys sports scholarships. The girls, meanwhile, practise their cheerleading for the opening of the match.
Kelly Jo and Dean grow closer in the Behavioural Unit (BU). While visiting Kelly Jo in the BU, Samia is irritated by male students commenting on her looks, and after she catches Tonya fighting with Dean's cousin Steve, Tonya tells her that Steve rated her a '1' on a 'Hot or Not' list that the boys have been operating in a group chat, ranking the girls' attractiveness. Samia is convinced Dean is involved in it, but he insists he is not, and Kelly Jo thinks Samia is jealous of her relationship.
Danny gets a text from his mother Marie asking to meet up. They meet in a car park, and she says she is proud of how far Danny has come, and is glad he has found a home with Val. The mask shatters, however, when she asks Danny to give her boyfriend Vinny the £1000 he stole from him back, and he refuses, realising he sent her to butter him up.
In a meeting with Kim and Lindon, Donte is told that he can return to work if he takes an anger management course. He refuses and storms out of Kim's office. At basketball practice, Hannah confronts Lindon about not telling her about his intention to divorce her.
Samia asks Preston if he is involved in the Hot or Not chat, but he says he's never heard of it. Noel helps Samia to break into one of the boys' lockers to see the chat for herself on the locker's owner's phone, and finds out that Preston created the group. She confronts him about it just as the basketball demo is about to start, attended by Jamie and Erica, but he insists that it's a misunderstanding. Samia, Tonya, Caz and the rest of the cheerleaders change their routine to focus around the boys objectifying their bodies after both Lindon and Kim tell Samia to wait until after the match to make her complaint. Samia breaks up with Preston. Erica is disgusted to find out about the group chat, and she and Jamie leave before the match begins. Lindon is apologetic, but Erica wonders what else she doesn't know about Waterloo Road, at which point Lindon accidentally lets slip about Donte smashing up Coral's car.
At Kai's party, Preston and Danny get into a drunken argument about Samia, but Preston walks out before things get physical. Kai follows him down an alley and they kiss. Reece and Ryan, associates of Vinny, track Danny down and threaten him, but they run away after he brandishes a knife. Kai is shocked to find out that his friend carries a weapon, and tells him to get rid of it or their friendship is over.
