Harry Cribbins is an Ofsted inspector and an old colleague of Neil Guthrie's from when he was a newly-qualified teacher. He takes a laid-back approach to his inspection of Waterloo Road High School alongside Mrs Doubleday, and prefers traditional, by-the-book teaching. Harry finds himself in Amy Spratt's drama class, where he is put off by her more practical style of teaching involving masks and musical instruments. He says to Neil that he will give him a good rating based on their friendship but plans to give Amy a bad score. However, when Neil threatens to mention that Harry failed to disclose a potential conflict of interest and is grading teachers based on his own personal preference, he leaves the classroom. He and Mrs Doubleday end up giving the school some positive notes, albeit alongside a long list of recommendations.
